NILE GIRLS FORUM (NGF) is a fully registered non-governmental organization, registration number 80020000663444 with Uganda Registration Services Bureau and registration number INDR13714727NB with National Bureau of NGOs. NGF is permitted to operate as an organization permit number INDP000727NB since February 2018.
Nile Girls Forum, a women led organization was founded by Pimer Peace Monica in 2018, currently employs five staff and ten volunteers with the aim of addressing issues affecting girls in Uganda and contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDG 3 good health and wealth being SDG 4 Quality education SDG 5 Gender equality SDG 8 decent work and economic growth SDG 10 reducing inequality and SDG 17 Partnerships for the goals.
Zombo district, according to the national population and housing census 2014 has a population of 128,962 with 61,905 males and 67,057 females a percentage of 48 and 52 respectively. In education,31 percent (%) of people were aged between 6 to 15, 31.2% were not in school; 34% of these being female and 28% male. The rate of drop outs continues to rise and is currently at 94% females stopping at O’ level. Nile Girls forum has reached over 700 girls in the West Nile. We trained the girls in liquid soap making, reusable sanitary pads and mentorships in Zombo district, Arua District, Apac district. Out of the 700 girls, 10 direct beneficiaries formed Nile Girls Club. Coffee processing and metal works and fabrication are in line to be included among the activities that the girls will be trained in.
This has been made possible through support of the local leaders, the community and partnerships with other organisations such as Forum for Christian empowerment, Keep Me in School, Bambino Life Foundation, I profile Foundation, Mkaziprenuer, Humans of Uganda, CHEZA association and we are hopeful to bring more organization on board. Victoria University Kampala Uganda has also played a big part in seeing the success of NGF.
